A pharmacy professor at Washington State University Spokane has received recognition for his work with Alzheimer’s disease from a national professional pharmacy journal.

Stephen M. Setter, assistant pharmacotherapy professor at WSU Spokane, was one of four pharmacists recognized by the journal, U.S. Pharmacist, with its third annual Pharmacy Recognition Award for human healthcare. Dr. Setter won in the community pharmacy category.

As a recipient of this award, Dr. Setter will write a two-page article for the publication on his contributions to improving the quality of care provided to Alzheimer’s patients. In addition to the award, Dr. Setter was invited to participate in a weekend conclave on Alzheimer’s disease in Philadelphia sponsored by U.S. Pharmacist, Eisai Pharmaceuticals, and the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy. The conclave will include award winners from past years, as well as experts in the field of Alzheimer’s.

As an expert in geriatrics and aging, Dr. Setter, a certified geriatric pharmacist, performs extensive research on health problems found in older adults, including diabetes, osteoporosis, and Parkinson’s disease.
